When it comes to cruising rules, there are dozens of do’s and don’ts and numerous things that are not allowed onboard. But don't worry; most of these restrictions turn into adventures because cruise ships provide alternative options.

In this blog post, we will discuss things that cruise lines cannot replace, and that are super special.

1) HOMEMADE FOOD

Nothing can compare to the taste of homemade food. It's not only more economical and tastier than outside food but also much better for your health. People love to carry homemade food on their long trips and vacations. However, when they plan a cruise trip and research it, they feel disappointed that almost all cruise ships prohibit cruisers from bringing homemade food or other perishable items. They do this to reduce the chances of foodborne illnesses, providing carefully prepared and monitored food to keep cruisers safe.

2) PETS AND ANIMALS

We all love our pets; they add extra fun to every journey, be it a long road trip, a stay in a different city, or a picnic in a natural environment. People who are attached and close to their pets find it surprising to hear that they must keep their pets at home during long cruise trips. Cruise ships do not allow pets because they are not equipped to handle their needs, and pets may feel stressed due to confined spaces. Potential hygiene and allergy concerns are also issues.

3) POOL TOYS: FLOATS, RAFTS, AND NOODLES

Cruise enthusiasts embark on cruise trips because they love being surrounded by water. Many of them enjoy water sports back on land too. Since cruise ships offer numerous water activities, cruisers often think of carrying pool toys. However, they are shocked to realize that they can't bring them, as these toys can obstruct the pool area, disturb other cruisers, and pose safety hazards.

4) CANDLES OR INCENSE

Many people love burning incense and candles in their homes for their therapeutic benefits. If you are one of those candle and incense lovers, there's bad news – you can't bring them on a cruise. Such items can pose a fire hazard in the confined areas of the ship.

5) DRONES OR SIMILAR DEVICES

Capturing amazing drone footage and pictures on a ship in the middle of a vast ocean is a dream for many. However, those with this interest must make sacrifices to enjoy cruising, as drones and similar devices are not allowed. They can interfere with the ship’s navigation system and raise privacy concerns.

6) SPORTS EQUIPMENT AND GEAR

Considering the vastness of a cruise ship and the multitude of activities it offers, you might contemplate bringing additional sports equipment to enhance your trip. Unfortunately, you'll have to wait until your cruise trip is over to use your favorite sports equipment and gear. Ships don't allow them due to the potential clutter in common areas, providing specially designated spaces for sports and recreation.

7) GUESTS OR VISITORS

When selecting the destination for your next cruise, you might be tempted to choose one where your friends, relatives, or loved ones reside. However, you may be disappointed to learn that cruise ships don't allow guests or visitors on board. Sharing the onboard experience with them is not an option, and you might have to make new friends on the ship.
